In what seems like a blink of an eye COVID-19 swooped in and changed our lives quite drastically. With an ongoing pandemic, many of us are grateful to have a safe place to call home and somewhere to go to sleep at the end of each day. Nevertheless, being confined in your home can stir up a lot of daunting emotions and leave us feeling overwhelmed. In times like these it's important we prioritize our mental health.
Synkers put together a few ways to help keep your mental health in check during these tough times;
- Find Your Element: There's no doubt that confinement is tough, but you can use this time to your advantage, truly find your element and embrace it. Our “normal life” routine has changed, so, rid yourself of the distractions and prioritize more time for the things that matter most to you, the things that spark the most joy for you. Find and foster your element.
- Enjoy the simple things in life: Our personal favourite thing throughout all the craziness going on the work, has to be seeing people from all around the world taking time to appreciate the simpler things in life. Whether it's seeing families recreate their childhood photos or making your own Dalgona coffee. Laugh more during this time, oftentimes the worst times are actually the best times in their own way.
- Talk it out: The magnitude of the effects of COVID-19 have been drastic, it's okay to feel confused or overwhelmed. It’s important you know you’re not alone and it's equally important that we let our kids know that they are not alone in the feelings they may be carrying. Talk it out and end the conversation by helping them place their energy and focus on factors within their control, help them understand how big a part they are playing by practicing social distancing.
- Ask for help: Don’t be afraid to ask for help. If you or a loved one are dealing with mental health issues, talk to a friend or family member, or book a session through Synkers with a Licensed psychotherapis.
